Brewing

All coffee brewing starts with the same three basic ingredients: coffeewater and a filter. Each of the three plays an important role in brewing.
FUNDAMENTALS: Proportion, Grind, Water, and Freshness

Calculating Brew Ratios
First, translate the amount of water and coffee into grams (1 mL water = 1 g water). Then, divide the weight of water by the weight of the coffee to calculate the brew ratio. We recommend 6 oz of water for every 2 Tbsp scoop of coffee.

6 oz = 180 mL = 180 g water
2 Tbsp = 10 g coffee
180 ÷ 10 = 18

Starbucks recommends a brew ratio of 18:1.
